Väike Väänik ring biscuits – nostalgically crunchy baranki
Väike Väänik ring biscuits are simple but tasty and pleasantly nostalgic baked goods, popularly known as baranki. They are great for crunching on their own, alongside tea or as a handy snack. Ring biscuits even have their own traditional way of eating:

• Brew a cup of good tea.
• Dip the ring briefly into the hot tea.
• Enjoy it a little softer.

Sounds complicated? We don’t think so either! Of course, rings can be enjoyed without any ceremony at all. For children the ring shape has a small bonus – before gobbling it up you can spin it on your finger! Incidentally, because the ring looks like a zero, a “baranka” has also come to mean a complete lack of knowledge in some field. Perhaps you too remember a teacher threatening you with a “baranka”?
